Rasha Introduces CHROMIND Color Calibration, Starting with Rodie X12
Rasha Professional has introduced CHROMIND, its color calibration and control technology for LED fixtures. Rodie X12, a six-color IP65 wash light, is the first Rasha fixture powered by CHROMIND.
Chroma, for color. Mind, for the intelligence behind it.
Make the whole rig match
A spec sheet tells you how one fixture performs. A rig may have twenty or more, and even fixtures from the same production run can look slightly different. On a cyc or on camera, one leans green and another leans magenta. The lighting designer corrects them one by one, and the colorist fixes the rest in post.
CHROMIND fixes it at the source. Every LED is calibrated individually, in software and hardware, and the calibration stays with the fixture, so it travels with the unit to every show.

What CHROMIND does
Every color, not just white. CHROMIND works out the emitter mix for every color the fixture makes. Saturated reds, greens and blues stay clean and dense. Mixes like lavender, sky blue and warm gold stay true instead of turning muddy.
Accurate white. Variable white from 1,800K to 10,000K, from candlelight through tungsten to daylight, with R9 above 90 at every white point. R9 is the saturated red that carries skin warmth, lips and wardrobe reds.
Unit-to-unit match. Fixtures set to the same value look the same, from the first fixture in the rig to the last.
Stable as it heats. LED color shifts as the engine warms up. CHROMIND holds it steady, so the look at the end of a two-hour show matches the look at the top.

Control that keeps up with the console
Hue and saturation
Six emitters would mean six faders to mix one color. In HSL mode the programmer works with three: hue, saturation and lightness. CHROMIND works out the red, green, blue, amber, cyan and lime behind every setting, so the fixture follows the color picker smoothly with no stepping.
16-bit dimming, smooth to black
CHROMIND fixtures add a fine channel to the dimmer and to every color, for 65,536 steps each, so long fades stay smooth all the way to black. Four dimmer curves (Linear, Square Law, Inverse Square Law and S-Curve) are set from the fixture menu, the app or DMX.
PWM for the shot
Choose 800 Hz, 1.2 kHz, 2 kHz, 3.6 kHz, 12 kHz or 25 kHz from the fixture menu or over DMX. The factory default is 25 kHz. The right setting depends on frame rate and shutter, so test with your camera before the shoot.
First in Rodie X12
Rodie X12 is a calibrated six-color IP65 wash with 12 RGBACL LEDs. A wash light that also keys. With CHROMIND, Rodie X12 has:
CRI 96+ and R9 90+, measured from 2,500K to 10,000K
83 white presets from 1,800K to 10,000K, plus 78 Lee filter presets
5-channel HSL mode, and 16-bit dimming in 20 and 25 channel modes
Six PWM settings from 800 Hz to 25 kHz
Measured 20° beam and 36° field
IP65 for semi-permanent outdoor use
Look for the mark
R for Rasha. C for CHROMIND. The CHROMIND mark means every emitter in the fixture was individually calibrated at the Rasha factory. Look for it on the box, on the spec sheet and as "Powered by CHROMIND" on the product page. Rodie X12 is the first fixture to carry it, and more Rasha fixtures will follow.
